Precious Promises

mannaGreetings and warmest wishes to all who will read this page or pass it on to others. It is my desire to share choice excerpts from the Bible and the Spirit of Prophecy which have blessed me so much over the years. I know that many of you have just as much to share as do I, and I welcome any interchange by which we can bless one another with the “manna” which sustains us in the challenges we must meet each day. In future editions I will include encouraging thoughts and quotes that I receive from any of you, as well.

From the margins of my Bible, I will pick out special quotations which have been a blessing to me. Take this one, for example:

“Christ is present in every assembly of the church. He is acquainted with everyone connected with His service. He knows those whose hearts He can fill with the holy oil, that they may impart it to others. Those who faithfully carry forward the work of Christ in our world, representing in word and works the character of God, fulfilling the Lord’s purpose for them, are in His sight very precious. Christ takes pleasure in them as a man takes pleasure in a well-kept garden and the fragrance of the flowers he has planted.” 6 T 419.

“I, the Lord, have called you with a righteous purpose and taken you by the hand; I have formed you, and appointed you to be a light to all peoples, a beacon for the nations.” Isa. 42:6, NEB.

Isn’t it wonderful that in our humble service for God, whatever our capacity, Jesus takes pleasure in us? That quotation has often encouraged my heart as I attempt to labor in His vineyard. But now I will give you a kaleidoscope of quotes without my comment. They speak for themselves!

“Our Lord adapts Himself to our special needs. He is a shade on our right hand. He walks close by our side, ready to supply all our necessities. He comes very near to those who are engaged in willing service for Him. He knows everyone by name. O what assurances we have of the tender love of Christ.” SD 16.

“Wherever I cause my name to be honored, I will come to you and bless you.” Ex. 20:24.

“When we devote ourselves to the affairs of the kingdom of God, He will mind our affairs.” OHC 196.

“And my God will meet all your needs according to His glorious riches in Christ Jesus.” Phil. 4:19.

“Fear not that your needs for this life will be uncared for. If you give yourself to God’s service, He who has all power in heaven and earth will provide for your needs.” MB 99.

“Prayer is heaven’s ordained means of success in the conflict with sin and the development of Christian character. The divine influences that come in answer to the prayer of faith will accomplish in the soul of the suppliant all for which he pleads. For the pardon of sin, for the Holy Spirit, for a Christlike temper, for wisdom and strength to do His work, for any gift He has promised, we may ask; and the promise is, ‘Ye shall receive.’” AA 564.

“The more earnestly and steadfastly we ask, the closer will be our spiritual union with Christ.” COL 146.

“Christ invites us to come to Him with our burden of guilt and our heart sorrows. Sin fills us with fear of God. When we have sinned we try to hide ourselves from Him. But whatever our sin, God bids us come unto Him through Jesus Christ. It is only by taking our sins to God that we can be freed from them…. Whatever our sin, if we but repent and believe in the atoning blood of Christ, we shall be pardoned.” KH 260.
